How the mind of “Grandpadeals” works

Staples are a good thing to keep on-hand. Dish soap, laundry detergent, canned goods, shampoo, conditioner and toothpaste for example. I like to have an idea of what I have in stock at home and what is in short supply. When the grocery ads come out, usually on Wednesday’s, I take advantage of any discount or sale items needed in my staple reserve. If it isn’t on sale, I am patient and wait until it is on sale.

When I hit the local grocery stores, I make a point to walk to the reduced price/clearance section and see what is shaking there. If there is nothing I need, I move back to the specific areas of need.

Sometimes there are digital coupons that are not advertised except in-house. So, pay attention to those depending on your needs. You are not looking to overspend or over stock rather, the right price for your needed items.

Additionally, an in-store special may require a purchase of a certain number of items to receive a reduced price on all. Be wary and do not overbuy. It’s not a deal if you don’t need it. For instance, a bag of chips is $4.99 but if you buy 5, they are $2.50 ea. If you aren’t having a party, you don’t need that many chips.

Grandpadeals recommends that you have a basic supply of these staples and to take advantage of restocking when on sale/ clearance or BOGO offers.

Basic Staples:

Medical-band aids, Tylenol and Advil or similar, Benadryl, hydrocortisone, antibiotic ointment, toothpaste, shampoos, toothbrushes, vitamins and medications etc

Regular cleaning products etc,

Pet food, Diapers, toilet paper, paper towels, Kleenex and hand/washing  soap

Foods: dry pasta, canned soups/ vegetables/ fruits/ chicken-beef and veggie broths, tomato sauce products, beans, peanut butter, jam, syrup etc, and basic spices

Emergency items: Candles, matches or lighters, extra propane tank, batteries, flashlight etc

Take a moment and share some of your wise ways of stocking up and saving.

Until next time-

Keep making smart choices! Next time we are going to talk about the Futures Market 🙂

Very well said. It’s always important to have a back up for your back ups. I’m a firm believer in having those extra items so when I run out I can simply grab the back up from storage and don’t have to rush off to the store and buy it full price
