Close your eyes and let yourself be carried away on the flowing current of my grace; close your eyes and do not think of the present, turning your thoughts away from the future just as you would from temptation. Repose in me, believing in my goodness, and I promise you by my love that if you say “You take care of it” I will take care of it all; I will console you, liberate you and guide you.
O Jesus, I surrender myself to you, take care of everything! (10 times)
Something to consider
When I ponder day eight, I try imagining myself on a quiet lazy river soaking up the sun, floating in complete safety. I breathe in the beauty of creation, and I feel immersed in God’s love, wrapped in His abundant grace, and cherished.
Perhaps we have all had something similar, an experience that brings us peace and a feeling of safety and tranquility. Learning to completely surrender is like that. Fr. Mike Schmitz says, “Surrender is not giving up, it’s giving access. It is letting God be the Lord of my life. I give him access to every aspect of my being. While Christ is King and has dominion, He does not dominate and while He is the God we cannot control, He is the God we can completely trust. In surrendering, we get to choose obedience over control and trust over fear.”
Amen.
