Surrendering- Day 3

Novena

How many things I do when the soul, in so much spiritual and material need, turns to me, looks at me and says to me; “You take care of it”, then closes its eyes and rests. In pain you pray for me to act, but that I act in the way you want. You do not turn to me, instead, you want me to adapt your ideas. You are not sick people who ask the doctor to cure you, but rather sick people who tell the doctor how to.  So do not act this way, but pray as I taught you in the Our Father:” Hallowed be thy Name”, that is, be glorified in my need. “Thy kingdom come”, that is, let all that is in us and in the world be in accord with your kingdom. “Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven”, that is, in our need, decide as you see fit for our temporal and eternal life. If you say to me truly: “Thy will be done”, which is the same as saying: “You take care of it”, I will intervene with all my omnipotence, and I will resolve the most difficult situations.
O Jesus, I surrender myself to you, take care of everything! (10 times)

Something to consider.

Have you ever had something within your power that could provide something better for someone else? It could be the ability to have an influence as a reference for a new hire. You may have the ear of a powerful politician or leader who took your advice seriously. Or what about the words that brought encouragement and peace to someone in despair? Through the grapevine, however, you hear that the friend did not want to “bother you,” so they did not receive the job. Or, the advice you could have shared on their behalf was left unsaid because the person would not seek help. I have, and it hurts. You ask yourself, why didn’t they think I cared enough to help if I could? Maybe they didn’t know I could make any difference, so they didn’t bother?

We have the ear of the Savior of mankind, who loves us and wants to help us thrive. Often, we use the lame excuse, “I don’t want to bother him; he has bigger problems to worry about then me.”

We are his beloved children. He cares about every aspect of our life. He knows our thoughts and our tribulations. We cannot hide anything from him. And despite knowing every detail of our hot little messes, he gives us the freedom to reach out and whisper a simple ‘help me’ or ‘leave me alone.’ That is what love does. It doesn’t force itself on anyone. Love waits in the hope that his beloved will call so that he might quickly come.
